I Don't Need Coffee or Diet Coke if I Have SPARK!

Even before I decided to take on the AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge, I had been thinking a lot about giving up pop.  Yes, where I'm from, I call it pop, not soda!  Anyway, I love Diet Coke.  LOVE.  At one point in my life, I was drinking up to four cans a day.  I had cut it down to one ... on most days ... sometimes more.  But I felt like there was no way I could just drink water at dinner!  Yuck! Then, I discovered Spark.  I tried Spark months before I decided to take on the 24 Day Challenge.  It is wonderful!!  It gives me the SPARK I need without the jitters.  As a working mom, I know I don't get enough sleep.  One of the greatest benefits of the 24 Day Challenge for me is the increase in my energy level.  Spark is a big help!  And, for the entire 24 Day Challenge, I had NO coffee (another love of mine!!) and only ONE Diet Coke (I went out with a friend.  I figured a salad and Diet Coke was a lot better than fried food and a beer!).  There is no way I could have done that without my Spark!

If you don't feel ready to jump into the whole 24 Day Challenge just yet, I encourage you to start with Spark.  You can order some here.  Start cutting back on unhealthy pop by adding some Spark to your life!

AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge - The Cleanse Phase

The 24 Day Challenge is broken down into two phases - the cleanse phase and the max phase.  The cleanse phase is the more restrictive part.  No dairy.  NO CHEESE!  I'm not gonna lie - that was tough!  Also, no bread or pasta.  You can have complex carbs like sweet potatoes.  You get to add things back into your diet after the first 10 days, though!  You also drink a fiber drink and take a probiotic.  I had read horror stories about the fiber drink on other blogs.  It's not delicious, but it is not terrible.  You do have to mix it and chug-a-lug!  No letting that bad boy sit around!  My hubby and I had the citrus flavor.  We mixed it with 4 ounces of water and 4 ounces of orange juice.  It was like drinking high pulp orange juice.  Not too bad!

You might be worried about exactly how "cleansing" this phase is.  In my job, I cannot just go to the bathroom whenever I feel like it, so this was a concern.  It was fine.  There was never a feeling of "urgency" or anything like that.  I really did not notice too much of a difference in my bowel movements.  Not an issue at all!

In the cleanse phase, I lost about 5 pounds.  In 10 days.  Yup!  Totally worth giving up cheese!

I will share more details with you next time.  I have to take care of a sick child.  Who gets strep throat in May??

Getting Healthy with AdvoCare!

One of the major changes I have made in my life recently is taking on the AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge.  As much as I hate to admit it, I'm overweight.  I have never been skinny, but since I gained 70 (!!!) pounds with my first pregnancy, things have gone downhill.  Or, really, uphill with the number on the scale!  I lost quite a bit of the weight, but after I stopped nursing, I gained some of it back.  Then I had two more pregnancies that sadly ended in miscarriages.  I gained weight with each of those.  Then, because of sadness over my fertility problems and the fact that I kept trying to get pregnant again, it didn't seem worth the effort to drop the weight and get back into shape.  Thankfully, after some help from a wonderful fertility doctor, I welcomed my second child almost two years ago!  When she was a little over one, I decided it was time to get healthy!  I was tired of being exhausted and feeling uncomfortable.

The first thing I tried was running.  I used one of the couch to 5k apps.  It literally started with running 30 seconds and walking 90 seconds.  I could barely do it!  I am proud to say that I stuck with the program, and in December of 2013, I ran a 5k race!  I ran slowly, but I managed to run the whole time!  It was a huge accomplishment for me!  While I was excited about running, I only dropped a couple of pounds, and I did not look different at all.  I believe that running was good for me, but I needed more.

Did I change my diet at all during this time?  Well, not really!  I now know that I should have!! So, when I heard about the AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge, I was intrigued. I was pretty sure that I could follow any diet for 24 days!  My husband and I decided to give it a shot, and I am so glad we did!!  We both lost weight and inches and gained energy.  I cannot say enough good things about the AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge!

AdvoCare showed me a whole new, healthy way of eating.  It's mostly clean eating, although during the first 10 days of the challenge your food choices are a little more restricted.  The supplements really helped me make this new way of eating work.  I love it!

My hubby lost 13 pounds, and I lost 10 pounds.  In 24 days!!!  And we have continued to lose weight even now that the challenge is over.  We still use the supplements and eat clean about 80% of the time.  We love AdvoCare so much that we signed up to be distributors.

I'll fill you in on more of the details next time!

All About Me!

Hi!  I'm Lauren, a 30-something wife, mom of two, and teacher.  I'm trying to juggle it all and have fun while doing it!  Just like every other mom out there, my life can be busy, stressful, and chaotic.  I want to start this blog to share my successes, failures, and inspiration.  I've recently started a journey to be more healthy physically and emotionally, and I'm looking forward to sharing that journey.
